Makeup Geek Pigments

At the very end of 2011 Makeup Geek launched their own series of eyeshadows that rapidly grew popular all over the globe. During last year they expanded their line with lipsticks and gel liners, that, just like the eyeshadows, held surprisingly high standards. Now, the Makeup Geek eyeshadow pigments are here to do some serious ass-kicking.

Let's dive into their sparkling realm right away! And look, some of the jars even have levitating lids. ;)

OBSERVE! Left swatch: Over NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk (white base that is), Right swatch: Pigment applied wet.

Afterglow reminds me of sparkling desert sand. This pigment is suitable for all eye and skin colors and would be gorgeous as an inner corner highlight.

Peachy copper? Coppery peach? I don't know. Either way this is a gorgeous pigment that will definitely flatter a pair of blue eyes with its warm lustre.

There is some kind of vintage aura surrounding this pigment that slightly reminds me of M.A.C.'s Cranberry. Your green eyes will pop right out of your head with this one adorning your lids.

Capturing the dual nature of a feverish, sleepless night Insomnia truly deserves its name. This is a dead on dupe for M.A.C.'s pigment Blue brown. On the swatches you can see how the pigment looks different depending on how the light hits it.

Dark and musty, like some treasure from a long lost culture, Liquid gold takes your breath away. If you're expecting a regular golden pigment you will probably be disappointed. This one is far from regular. It is an odd shade of gold with an almost greenish sheen to it that breathes an antique air.

If I were to name this pigment I would have called it "Candlelight", because that's what it reminds me of. Its real name, New Years Eve, definitely suits it though, when thinking of the champagne and the glamour that night is usually associated with.

A thousand silver sparkles in a base of dark grey is always a safe move when doing a glamourous smokey eye. This pigment is pretty, but not the most unique. When applied wet it turns to a dark, gunmetal color.

A silvery grey pigment that will dress your eyes in Prince Charming's shining armor. ;)

Sweet dreams is a very useful naked shimmer that looks innocent enough although its name instantly makes me think of Freddy Krueger. This shade is bound to suit everybody, Mr. Krueger included.

Now this is definitely a showstopper! With its chunky texture and dark, seductive color Utopia is definitely bound to blow your mind.

Overall impression: Since it is Makeup Geek I am not surprised that these pigments are of the same extraordinary quality as the rest of their products. They really put effort into building up their cosmetics line; an effort that is clearly reflected in the high standard of their products. To be honest there is only one thing that I found less than perfect with these pigments; the jars should be equipped with some kind of sifter (think; the kinds that Bare Minerals use for their foundation jars) so that the pigment won't escape as easily as they do without it. Otherwise, this product is outstanding!

So, are you excited about these yet? Maybe you've already tried them? :)

Wednesday Addams Manicure

Or rather Wednesday Addams's decapitated doll, as Mr. Noire pointed out when I showed it to him. ;) After doing the Star Fleet uniform manicure I stumbled upon the idea to make one out of Wednesday Addams as well. Hope you enjoy it! :)

Right now I am editing the pictures of the swatches on Makeup Geek's new pigments! Iiiih! So excited to show them to you! ^_^

Paranormal Encounters

At the end of April I wrote about Illamasqua's new collection Paranormal, which certainly contains a lot of goodies that most makeup lovers would love to sink their fangs into. Although I haven't tried any of the products yet, I got very inspired by the looks in this collection and decided to recreate one of them. :)

Coral is a great choice if you want to make green eyes pop.

Purple lips matches flawlessly with coral eyes. I don't know why but I have been very inspired by this color combo lately.

I don't know if orange eyebrows are my cup of tea but they where essential for an accurate recreation of this look. :)

Step 1. After priming your eyes, trace your crease with a warm midtone brown. I used Purely naked by Makeup Geek. This will work as our transition color.

Step 2. Apply a warm coral or copper shade to your entire lid. Blend it like a maniac, using a skin tone eyeshadow around the edges.

Step 3. Do your foundation and lighten your brows with concealer. Finish with a powder on the areas where you tend to get most shiny.

Step 4. Fill in your brows with a burnt orange. The one I used is also from Makeup Geek and it's called Chickadee.

Step 5. Now, dust a soft wash of shimmery eyeshadow over your lids. I used Shimma shimma by Makeup Geek.

Step 6. Concentrate the shimmer on your inner corners, browbones and center of the lids. To accentuate the shine even more apply the Jumbo Pencil in Milk by N.Y.X. underneath.

Step 7. Dip Illamasqua's medium pencil in Sophie into black gel liner and line the inner rims of your eyes as well as the lower lash line.

Step 8. Using a white eyeliner line your upper lash line starting at the inner corner and fading it so that it ends softly about 2/3 of the way.

Step 9. Curl your lashes and apply a lot of mascara. I chose not to apply false lashes because the model in my inspirational picture does not appear to have any.

Inspirational picture:

I sincerely hope you liked my take on this look! For a very long time now I have been planning to do a series of looks inspired by Illamasqua's different collections, and I might start that series some time soon, actually. :)

I'm also thinking about doing a Q&A post where you guys can ask whatever you want (makeup related or not) but I'm not sure about that. Do you have any questions that you would like me to answer? :)

Thanks for reading!

Star Trek Manicure

Today I'm going to see Star  Trek Into Darkness. Iiiiihh!! To celebrate the occasion I made a manicure inspired by the Star Fleet uniforms from the original Star Trek series. Geeky? Hell yeah!

Scotty, Spock, Kirk, McCoy and Uhura. ;)

XD

Hope you enjoyed this post and see you again soon! :)

Inglot Lipstick Swatches

It's a mystery what took me so long to post the swatches of the lovely Inglot lipstick that Mr. Noire got me after his trip to America. Anyways, now their here so enjoy! :)

Inglot #229 is a somewhat shimmery red that reminds me about Dorothy's ruby slippers. This is probably my favorite lipstick right now, because it's the perfect color to wear for work! Also, it is long-lasting and smells delicious.

Inglot #184 is a dark plum with some kind of blue sheen to it. This is a color that definitely will make your teeth look whiter, because of its blue undertones.

Anyways, that's that for now. I will hopefully be back with a new look soon but as I have got some troubles with my internet connection at the moment we'll see when that will happen.
Thanks a lot for reading and hope that you will have a nice weekend! :)

Birthstones: Emerald

First, I want to say WELCOME to all my new readers! :) And welcome back to you oldies! :D I wish I could express in words how much I really appreciate all of you who takes your time to read my posts, comment and subscribe to my blog! I am truly honored to have you here!

Second, is it really May already? :O Where did April go? :O Well, my inner Spock-a-holic has been longing for the premiere of "Stark Trek: Into Darkness" for a very long time now so I am very pleased to see May's pretty face. :) Another good thing with May is that it has one of the most beautiful birthstones associated with it; the emerald.

Midori is the perfect emerald green. The lighter green on the middle of the lid was applied to give the look a little more dimension.

Shitty image, but at least you can get a grasp of the green shimmer in the middle of the lid.

A peachy pink cheek and hot pink lips brings out the green eye makeup even more. I've been experimenting a bit with vintage hair-dos lately, and this is one of my (sloppy) attempts to do a "front roll".

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't do an image tutorial on this one since it's such an easy look, but I thought I'd write down the steps anyway in case you're wondering anything about it.

Step 1. Prime your eyes as usual.

Step 2. Draw and fill in the cat eye with a green base. As a base I used the gel liner Mystic by Makeup Geek.

Step 3. On top of the base, apply Midori by Sugarpill, leaving a little pocket open in the middle of the lid. On top of that pocket apply a shimmery green pigment. I used Bamboo by Make Up Store.

Step 4. Define the edges with a small brush and concealer.

Step 5. Line your eyes (waterline + upper lash line) with a black kohl pencil. Smudge it out a bit around the upper lash line, then set it with a black eyeshadow. Make sure the black is well blended into the green; we don't want a sharp eyeliner.

Step 6. Mascara and false eyelashes.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soon I'll be starting a (hopefully) rather busy schedule at work over summer. I will be selling a lot of luxury cosmetics, which is really nice since the products are of such high quality and easy to recommend to a customer.

Anyways, I hope you're having a lovely time whatever you're doing! Thanks a lot for reading and a BIG thanks for all of you who comments and subscribes! :D
